Nextone – next generation Session Border Controller

Post  ipmiracle on Wed Sep 16, 2009 12:16 pm

Nextone delivers secure carrier class, real-time communications for mobile and fixed line service providers, enabling new service offerings, rapid revenue generation and network cost-savings. With extensive security, policy enforcement, and session management capabilities, the Nextone brings operators advanced levels of functionality, flexibility, and performance at IP network borders.

Nextone consists of 2 functional subsystems: MSX (Multiprotocol Session Exchange) and iVMS (iView Management System).

MSX (MSC+MSW) is a server that facilitates all calls initiated in a VoIP network by authenticating and routing the calls between IP endpoints.

The Nextone MSX supports the following services:

Configuration for IP endpoints on the network
Call routing
Virtual Private Network (VPN)
Call routing policies (via calling plans)
H323 gatekeeper
SIP proxy
Billing data collection for calls made to and from IP endpoints in the network
IP Centrex

Interworking between SIP and H323 protocols are fully supported.

iVMS allows the service providers to access their switch on the web and create their endpoints, calling plans, LCR, generate engineering reports, business and profit reports.

Reports available in iVMS:
- business reports (This report takes the information from the engineering data and LCR table and creates reports on Region, Customers, Suppliers, Origination and Termination trunks)
- engineering reports (This option allows the service providers to monitor the performance of their switch partition and end points (routes) - ASR by source IP, ASR by destination IP, ASR by Region, ASR by customer etc)
- profit reports (The Profit reports are available for creating specific report based on the buying and selling of the minutes on the switch).

Alarms: CDR / Log alarms are triggered based on the traffic patterns detected from the CDRs generated on an MSx.

System: Service Providers can create various users with distinct privileges to access their partition.
