Pros and Cons of Hydroelectric power?
I'll give the facts - you find the pros and cons...
Hydroelectric power relies on the potential energy stored in a dammed reservoir. This is turned into kinetic energy when the water is allowed to flow out under the dam at great pressure. The water turns a turbine which turns an electric generator. As long as there is water in the reservoir, there is potential energy to be turned into electric energy.
Hydroelectric energy is non-reliant on hydrocarbon fuel, therefore it does not produce toxic by products like smog (nitrous oxide compounds when fuel burns in an engine) nor greenhouse gasses like CO2 or SO2. Also, hydrocarbon fuel is mostly from non-renewable sources. Nucleur energy also generates electricity from a turbine and does not produce CO2 nor smog, but radioactive materials are also non-renewable. Rain is completely renewable, so hydroelectricity has a non-exhaustable source of energy. Hydroelectric electricity is also the cheapest kind of electricity to produce, since the energy source is essentially free.

Re: Pros and Cons of Hydroelectric power?
Hydroelectricity happens to be one of the most popular and widely-practiced forms of renewable energy. Hydroelectricity and hydroelectric power generation are concepts that are introduced to students in nearly each and every middle school or high school. Therefore, most of you would be quite familiar with what hydroelectric power is, and how it is generated. However, for the benefit of those who aren't all that familiar with hydroelectricity and the concept of hydroelectric power, here is a basic introduction, after which we will have a look at some hydroelectricity pros and cons.
